Ever seen a dancer face off against a speeding car?
That's exactly what we pulled off for Yves V & FR!ES' "High Like This" music video.
Working with director Tim Madden, we took over Sydney Motorsport Park's skid pan and flooded it with water so the car could slide around the dancer. The concept? Ballet meets bullfighting meets drag racing. Sounds crazy, right? It was.
The Fun Challenges
Filming on a wet skid pan while dodging tire spray probably isn't your average Tuesday, but that's what made it amazing. We shot almost everything live - the car and dancer together in real time. Only one shot needed compositing.
The water spray covering our lenses as a speeding tyre drifts by only centimeters away?
We kept it there. Those "imperfections" became some of the best lens flares in the video. I've since made sure to keep a spray bottle in my camera pack, now I can get the same effect without needing the rally driver (or the danger).

We used Blackmagic 6K, Sony a7sii, gimbals, and a drone to capture it all. The wet surface created incredible reflections that transformed every night shot.
Why I Love This Stuff
Music videos let you do things you'd never get away with on a corporate shoot. They're a pure creative playground, just wild ideas and the drive to make them happen.
Got a crazy music video idea? Let's make it happen.
