Back in January 2018, I got to dive into two wildly different worlds – a glowing puzzle cave and a floating pirate ship under siege by a legendary sea monster… in the sky.
I worked with The Pulse and director George Kacevski on the VR game trailers for Treasure Hollow and Sky Kraken. Treasure Hollow was a children’s puzzle adventure where you help quirky characters find treasure and escape a cave full of giant glowing mushrooms. Sky Kraken put you on the deck of a flying pirate ship, battling monsters, rival crews, and a colossal tentacled boss.
My role was 360 render artist, edit assist, and playtester for both games. I spent a lot of time in Unreal Engine creating virtual cameras to capture the exact cinematic feel we wanted – a fun challenge that pushed me creatively.
It was also my first time working on real-time VR games after a string of 360 VR film projects, and I loved the pace and freedom of it.
If you’re working on a video game project and need someone who can blend creativity with technical know-how for a punchy trailer, let’s talk!
